ASCIP Mourns the Loss of Dr. David Gater

Dear ASCIP Members:

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Dr. David Gater, our current Board Chair and highly respected leader in the spinal cord injury community, passed away last evening.  We were notified by one of his colleagues that David was riding his bicycle last night and apparently suffered a myocardial infarction. He died shortly thereafter at the Ryder Trauma Center where he spent so much time and effort helping others.

The spinal cord injury community will miss David greatly.  As Chair of the ASCIP board, he brought experience, perspective and passion to our deliberations.  We will miss those attributes, but most of all we will miss his friendship.

The ASCIP Executive Committee is working on succession plans which will be announced soon.  We have many capable people on the Board and the mission of ASCIP will go on uninterrupted.
